Ichabod Crane seized a down to the wire victory over Catholic Central 49-46 on Tueday night. The Riders closed the game out on a 16-2 run after they trailed by eleven points, 44-33, with just over two minutes left in the contest after a Crusader basket by Delaney Pratt.

 

The Riders Delaney More made a tough basket to tie the game at 46, with 0:56 left in the fourth quarter, and then two clutch free throws to break a 46-46 tie with 0:40 left in regulation. More's free throws were Ichabod Crane's first lead in the game since they scored the opening bucket to go up 2-0.

The Crusaders held a modest 1-point edge at the start of the fourth quarter. This duel was a physical battle through the first twenty-four minutes of action.

Focused play in the second half helped as Ichabod Crane outscored Catholic Central 35-25 in the final two quarters. That was reverse of the first half when Catholic Central sprinted out to a 21-14 lead at the midway point.

Ichabod Crane were strong out of the locker room and started the game in style racing to a hefty first quarter lead 14-7. They relied on their stout defense and played with great enthusiasm throughout the frame. Yet, Catholic Central perked up in the second quarter and outscored Ichabod Crane by 14 points. The Crusaders shutout the Riders in the second frame with suffocating defense.

Catholic Central played sound basketball in the second stanza turning a 7-point first quarter deficit into a 7-point halftime advantage.
