Averill Park held off a fourth quarter rally from Shenendehowa to grab a 66-59 win in Suburban Council action. Arianna Verardi led the Warriors with 20 points.

Averill Park used an impressive first eight minutes and took hold of the ball game on their way to a nice first quarter lead 15-8.

Shenendehowa closed the gap late in the first half thanks to back to back three pointers from Gabby Stuart and Abby Stuart as the teams went to the first half breather with Averill Park nudging ahead 32-27.

Averill Park played with purpose in the third quarter and outscored Shenendehowa by 6 points. They took their biggest lead of the night 52-40 late in the third period.

 

Shenendehowa opened the fourth quarter on a 13-1 run to tie the game at 53 with just under four minutes left in the contest. The Warriors responded by scoring the next seven points to give them them some breathing room at 60-53. Bailee Lange made a tough hoop in transition to break the deadlock at 53. Tatiana Tune grabbed a rebound, scored, and was fouled to complete a three point play. Taylor Holohan finished the run with a steal and the basket.

The Warriors led at all quarter buzzers by separations of 7, 5, 11, & 7.

Averill Park had a quartet of players in double figure scoring. Arianna Verardi paced the Warriors with 20 points. Taylor Holohan chipped in 16 points. Tatiana Tune bagged 11 points. Kayleigh Ahern finished with 10 points. Bailee Lange chalked up 9 points.
The Warriors shot with exceptional form at the line as they achieved 66.7%, 12 of 18.

 

Shenendehowa had a triplet in double figure scoring. Gabby Stuart led the Plainsmen with 19 points. Bri Carey splashed in 13 points. Kaleigh Montanez poured in 11 points. Grace Cozzens scored 7 points.
