Mechanicville Finishes League Play with Strong Road Win Over Hoosic Valley
SCHAGHTICOKE – Mechanicville closed out its league schedule in dominant fashion, leading wire-to-wire in a 50-37 road victory over Hoosic Valley on Friday night.
The Red Raiders (12-5, 9-4 league) controlled the game from the opening tip, never allowing Hoosic Valley (12-7, 7-6) to gain momentum. Cruz Goverski and Mark Pingelski led the way offensively, each scoring 14 points, while Chris Couser added 11 to help secure the win.
For Hoosic Valley, Landon Reilly was the standout performer, finishing with 16 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Mechanicville’s balanced attack.
With the league schedule now complete, Mechanicville will turn its focus to non-league play, beginning with a home matchup against Loudonville Christian on Monday, February 10th, at 7:00 PM.

Queensbury Uses Strong Second Quarter to Defeat Amsterdam, 48-41
QUEENSBURY – A dominant second quarter proved to be the difference as Queensbury held off Amsterdam 48-41 in a hard-fought girls' basketball matchup on Wednesday night.
After a closely contested first quarter, Queensbury outscored Amsterdam 17-3 in the second, taking control of the game heading into halftime. Despite a strong second-half push from Amsterdam, the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Shea Canavan led the charge for Queensbury with an impressive 23 points, including five three-pointers. Meredith Clark added nine points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Kayla Zehr contributed four points and 12 rebounds in a well-rounded team effort.
For Amsterdam, Elianna Tirado led the way with 13 points, eight rebounds, and four steals, while Rosamya Perez added 10 points and eight boards. Mia Natale chipped in 11 points, including a three-pointer, but Amsterdam struggled to regain momentum after the second quarter.
Northville Rallies Past Galway for 55-49 Victory
NORTHVILLE – A strong second-quarter surge helped Northville secure a 55-49 win over Galway in boys’ basketball action on Wednesday night.
After trailing by three at the end of the first quarter, Northville outscored Galway 17-10 in the second to take control of the game. The home team maintained their lead throughout the second half, fending off a late push from Galway in the fourth quarter.
Braydn Bovee led the charge for Northville with 14 points, including a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Nico Sevastakis and Landon Fraiser each contributed 12 points, while Kevin Beacott added seven points, sinking key free throws down the stretch.
For Galway, Samuel Reedy was the top scorer with 16 points, while Chase Maher and Hayden Flint each chipped in 11. Galway started strong but struggled to find offensive consistency in the middle quarters, scoring just 18 points combined in the second and third quarters.
Mechanicville Dominates Tamarac with Explosive Third Quarter
MECHANICVILLE – A dominant second-half performance powered Mechanicville to a 74-44 victory over Tamarac on Wednesday night, as the home team pulled away with a decisive 25-11 third quarter.
Leading the charge for Mechanicville was Cruz Goverski, who poured in 20 points, while Logan Starks (15 points) and Mark Pingelski (14 points) provided additional firepower.
Tamarac kept things close in the first half, with Kam Edmonds (15 points) and Sam Kuiken (12 points) pacing the Bengals.
With the win, Mechanicville improves to 11-5 overall (8-4 league), while Tamarac falls to 11-7 (7-5 league). Mechanicville will look to keep their momentum going when they visit Hoosic Valley on Friday, February 7, for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.

Hoosick Falls Clinches South Division with Win Over Tamarac
TAMARAC – Hoosick Falls secured the WASAREN League South Division title with a commanding 54-45 victory over Tamarac on the road Tuesday night.
The Panthers controlled the game from start to finish, led by strong performances from Richie Stifter (15 points, 7 rebounds), Carson Glover (15 points, 9 rebounds), and Aiden Fleming (14 points). Their balanced scoring and dominance on the boards proved too much for Tamarac to overcome.
