Troy tightened up their defense in the middle two quarters, after a close first periord, to pull away from Amsterdam 53-24. The Flying Horses move on in the Class AA sectionals and play #1 seed Columbia, at the Blue Devils, Friday at 7:30 p.m.
After holding a two point lead after the first frame Troy used a 16-0 run in the second quarter to give them a 28-13 lead at the break. The Flying Horses outscored the Lady Rams 16-2 in the third period for a 44-15 advantage. Troy was led by 8th grader Kiana Tiernan who had a triple double with 16 points, 11 blocks and 11 rebounds.
The Lady Rams were led in scoring by Mia Natale with 11 points and Elianna Tirado 9 points. Amsterdam who starts, a sophomore, three freshman and an 8th grader finished the regular season at 13-8.
