Survive and advance is a phrase that is used a ton this time of year for knockout basketball but the Ichabod Crane boys team were the definition of that old cliche tonight. The Riders figured out a way to grab a 57-54 win over a fiesty Ravena squad in the Class A 1st round. This gritty victory came after giving up a double digit lead in the second half, missing some crucial free throws to ice the game, having to rally from a two point deficit with under 25 seconds left and then defending a last second Ravena attempt to tie the game at the buzzer. Ichabod Crane will meet #3 seed Catholic Central on 3/2 at Guilderland HS at 1:00 p.m.

The Riders jumped out to an 18-14 first quarter lead and led 28-25 at the half. They stretched their advantage in the third quarter to double digits but Ravena closed the period strong to trail 45-39 heading into the fourth quarter.

After a Chase Morrison bucket with 2:56 left in the game, Ichabod Crane led 52-47. Ravena ran off seven straight points from JT Foy, Ta'Rae Green and Mason Carkner to grab a 54-52 lead. With under 0:30 left in the contest the Riders inbounded the ball to Quinn Rapport who got it to Chase Morrison for a basket and the foul with 20.7 seonds left. Morrison completed the three point play to give Ichabod Crane the lead for good.
