Albany Academy for Girls delivered a commanding performance in the Class A sectional championship, defeating Broadalbin-Perth 65-43 at Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday afternoon. This is the third straight sectional title for the Bears. (2023 & 2024 in Class B)
The Bears, now 19-4 on the season, set the tone early with a strong offensive start, while their defensive pressure kept the Patriots in check. By halftime, Albany Academy had established a comfortable lead, forcing Broadalbin-Perth to play from behind the rest of the way.
Despite a determined effort, Broadalbin-Perth (20-2) struggled to find an answer for the Bears' balanced attack.
Albany Academy had three players in double digit scoring. Alex Leonard had 17 points, Eva Gitto 15 points, and Morgan Vien 14 points.
Molly Russom scored a game high 21 points for Broadalbin Perth, Summer Perry 8 points and Marcy Hotaling 7 points.
